I'm exploring the random expression that occurs in the photograph here. Breathe has a sense of something hostile, something below the surface. It gives an impression of being under water, through the vibrant colours there is a sense of drowning going deeper and deeper. Perhaps the colours are the lights from the world of glamour that is above the surface, gone forever. Colours blur becoming a haze in the mist of the deep darkness below. It reminds me of a mural on the inside of Sydney Opera House.

Goodness Gracious

I named this Goodness Gracious as it shocked me when I first saw it. As with other works of mine I'm always interested in how the colour portrays itself and movement features strongly in my pieces.
There is a sense of speed here something moving across deep space, futuristic even!

All of my work is very much related to colour, movemnet, line, and space. To me a photograph is representative of the canvas. When I paint I explore the various mixes of colour, the same is true with digital art, especially abstract art. The images that occur do just that, they occur within the pixels, manifesting themselves in ways that would never be seen before. The exhaustive editing techniques are applied not to present perfection but rather to uncover something within.

I took some time developing a range of images to be used by a charity working in Africa. The piece encapsulates the dryness of the African plain and is representative of the sun setting over the wilderness. It's bold and bright and has simple lines which change colour just as the light in Africa shifts and changes the environment. It's a safe place yet menacing.

A Definitive Year

2008 was a good year for me, I had my first piece accepted into an Art Exhibition, it felt good to be recognised.
I interpret the piece to show the brightness of acceptance whilst the sides are still in shade, perhaps something dark is about to occur?

I'm told that my work has a 'Corporate' feel about it, those who have seen this piece feel it would be great in an entrance to a building, it's one take. We so need to compartmentalise art these days, whether it's contemporary or abstract or corporate! To some extent I agree but to see it as purely a 'corporate' image in some way limits its value, not in financial terms more it's core value. Perhaps the title 'Sinister' has something to do with those 'Corporate' institutions known as banks?

Missing

The title of the piece relates to anyone who is 'missing' it's an optimistic piece of work because without closure we remain open to our loved one returning.
I'm influenced here by the many folk songs written over a hundred years ago which tell the tale of many a fair maiden waiting by the shore side for her loved one to return.

Wood for the Trees
